Turkish requirements

Plan the national formalities before reaching the port.

Frontier-port arrival and departure

A yacht arriving from a foreign port or departing Turkey for a foreign port should use a designated frontier port. Confirm that the chosen port can handle the yacht, crew, route and planned time before relying on it for formalities.

Transit Log and vessel declarations

Foreign-yacht formalities are recorded through the Yacht Registration Form, commonly called the Transit Log. It brings together vessel, customs, passport, health, port, crew and passenger information for the stay in Turkey.

Passport and visa formalities

Turkey is outside the Schengen Area. Passport entry or exit requirements apply when crossing the Turkish border, and visa or visa-exemption conditions depend on each person's nationality and travel document.

Customs and temporary use

Customs treatment depends on the yacht's flag, ownership, use and the owner's or user's residence. Foreign private, charter and commercial yachts should provide their full status so the local agent can confirm the applicable process.

Harbour Directorate and local sequence

The relevant Harbour Directorate and other competent authorities may need to complete or review parts of the arrival or departure. Office sequence and attendance arrangements vary by port and should be confirmed locally.

Waste records and Blue Card tracking

Turkey operates vessel-waste controls that include Blue Card tracking for yachts and other smaller vessels. Keep waste-delivery records and confirm the current local process with the marina or agent.

FAQ

Turkey yacht-clearance questions

Do yachts need to clear into Turkey?

A yacht arriving from a foreign port should use a designated frontier port and complete the applicable yacht, customs, passport, health and port formalities before cruising onward.

How many Turkish frontier ports are covered?

This site covers all 41 ports named in the official foreign-yacht entry guidance, grouped into seven practical cruising regions.

What is a Transit Log in Turkey?

The Yacht Registration Form, commonly called the Transit Log, records vessel, customs, passport, health, port, crew and passenger declarations and the authorities' related actions.

Is Turkey in Schengen?

No. Turkey is outside the Schengen Area. Routes between Turkey and Greece or another Schengen country cross an external Schengen border.

Which documents should be prepared?

Prepare passports, visas where required, yacht registration, ownership or authority documents, insurance, crew and passenger list, skipper qualification, previous clearance and applicable Transit Log records.

Can a foreign yacht stay in a Turkish marina?

Turkish rules provide for foreign yachts to remain for maintenance, repair, docking or wintering subject to the applicable customs and marina process. Confirm the current conditions for the yacht and owner before arranging a long stay.

Do Turkish yacht-waste rules apply?

Turkey operates vessel-waste tracking that includes yachts and other smaller vessels. Confirm the current Blue Card and waste-delivery requirements and retain the relevant records.

Does every listed frontier port handle private yachts at all times?

No assumption should be made about continuous yacht service. Authority attendance, berth access and practical processing can vary, especially at commercial or smaller ports, so confirm locally before arrival.

Is a yacht-clearance agent mandatory?

An agent is not described here as universally mandatory, but local help can be valuable for confirming the correct port, authority sequence, documents, attendance and timing.

What does Turkey Yacht Clearance do?

Turkey Yacht Clearance collects the request, reviews the voyage details and may introduce the skipper to a suitable local yacht-clearance agent. It is not a government authority and does not make official clearance decisions.
